transferrin-CRM107 -- A substance created by linking a form of diphtheria toxin to transferrin (a protein that binds to and is taken up by rapidly growing cells, such as tumor cells). Once inside, the toxin portion of the molecule kills the tumor cells. It is being studied in the treatment of brain tumors. It belongs to the family of drugs called ligand-targeted toxin conjugates.
