thermosphere

The term 'thermosphere' as it applies to the area of the weather can be defined as ' The atmospheric shell extending from the top of the mesosphere to outer space. It is a region of more or less steadily increasing temperature with height, starting at 70 or 80 km'.

The term 'thermosphere' as it applies to the area of Earth observation can be defined as ' The outermost shell of the atmosphere, between the mesosphere and outer space; where temperatures increase steadily with altitude'.
