The term 'stream' as it applies to the area of reclamation can be defined as ' Natural water course containing water at least part of the year. The type of runoff where water flows in a channel. See ephemeral stream, gaining stream, incised stream, intermittent stream, losing stream, or perennial stream'.

The term 'stream' as it applies to the area of water can be defined as 'a general term for a body of flowing water; natural water course containing water at least part of the year. In hydrology, it is generally applied to the water flowing in a natural channel as distinct from a canal'.

The term 'stream' as it applies to the area of coastlines can be defined as ' (1) any flow of water; a current. (2) a course of water flowing along a bed in the earth'.
