lahar

The term 'lahar' as it applies to the area of volcanos can be defined as '   A flowing mixture of water-saturated rock debris that forms on the slopes of a volcano, and moves downslope under the force of gravity, sometimes referred to as debris flow or mudflow. The term comes from Indonesia'.

The term 'lahar' as it applies to the area of Earth observation can be defined as '  A flood of mud and rocks from the slopes of a volcano. May be triggered by earthquakes, landslides, or when the rim of a caldera lake is breached. See When Rivers of Rock Flow'.
