The term 'crop water-use efficiency' as it applies to the area of carbon dioxide can be defined as ' A measure at the ecosystem level of how well plants use available water in growth. The grams of dry weight gained by plants during the growing season per unit land area are divided by the millimeters of water lost (including evaporation directly from the soil)'.
