Stratigraphy

The term 'Stratigraphy' as it applies to the area of coastlines can be defined as ' (1) the study of stratified rocks (sediments and volcanics) especially their sequence in time. (2) the character of the rocks and the correlation of beds in different localities'.

The term 'Stratigraphy' as it applies to the area of reclamation can be defined as ' Geology that deals with the origin, composition, distribution, and succession of strata. Study or description of layered or stratified rocks'.
