Leachate

The term 'Leachate' as it applies to the area of reclamation can be defined as ' A liquid that results from water collecting contaminants as it trickles through wastes, agricultural pesticides or fertilizers. Leachate may occur in farming areas, feedlots, and landfills, and may result in hazardous substances entering surface water, ground water, or soil'.

The term 'Leachate' as it applies to the area of energy can be defined as ' The liquid that has percolated through the soil or other medium'.
