Jason-1

The term 'Jason-1' as it applies to the area of Earth observation can be defined as ' Jason-1 is an oceanography mission to monitor global ocean circulation, discover the tie between the oceans and atmosphere, improve global climate predictions, measure sea level rise and monitor events such as El Nino conditions and the Pacific Decadal Oscillation. The Jason-1 satellite carries a radar altimeter and it is a follow-on mission to the highly successful TOPEX/Poseidon mission.
