Groundwater

The term 'Groundwater' as it applies to the area of carbon dioxide can be defined as ' The supply of fresh water found beneath the surface of the Earth (usually in aquifers) that often supplies wells and springs'.

The term 'Groundwater' as it applies to the area of hazardous materials can be defined as 'Water beneath the earth's surface in the spaces between soil particles and between rock surfaces [compare with surface water]'.
