Geographic Information System (GIS)

The term 'Geographic Information System (GIS) ' as it applies to the area of agriculture can be defined as ' Computerized systems used to compile, retrieve, analyze, and display spatially referenced data. Farming activities that utilize GIS typically include harvesting, fertilizing, pest control, seeding, and irrigation. Use of GIS is called precision farming'.
