Flood stage

The term 'Flood stage' as it applies to the area of the weather can be defined as ' An established gage height for a given location above which a rise in water surface level begins to create a hazard to lives, property, or commerce. The issuance of flood (or in some cases flash flood) warnings is linked to flood stage. Not necessarily the same as bankfull stage'.

The term 'Flood stage' as it applies to the area of water can be defined as 'The elevation at which overflow of the natural banks of a stream or body of water begins in the reach or area in which the elevation is measured'.

The term 'Flood stage' as it applies to the area of reclamation can be defined as ' An established gage height within a given river reach above which a rise in water surface level is defined as a flood'.
