Filter strip

The term 'Filter strip ' as it applies to the area of agriculture can be defined as ' An area of vegetation, generally narrow and long, that slows the rate of runoff, allowing sediments, organic matter, and other pollutants that are being conveyed by the water to be removed. Filter strips reduce erosion and the accompanying stream pollution, and can be a best management practice'.
