Environmental impact statement (EIS)

The term 'Environmental impact statement (EIS) ' as it applies to the area of agriculture can be defined as ' A document required of federal agencies by the National Environmental Policy Act for major projects or administration-initiated legislative proposals significantly affecting the environment. A tool for decision making, it describes the positive and negative effects of the undertaking and assesses alternative actions'.
