Emergency

The term 'Emergency' as it applies to the area of reclamation can be defined as ' A condition of a serious nature which develops unexpectedly and endangers the structural integrity of a dam or endangers downstream property and human life and requires immediate action. An event that demands a crisis response beyond the scope of any single line agency or service (e.g., beyond the scope of just the police department, fire department, etc.) and that presents a threat to a community or larger area. An emergency is an event that can be controlled within the scope of local capabilities'.

The term 'Emergency' as it applies to the area of energy can be defined as ' The failure of an electric power system to generate or deliver electric power as normally intended, resulting in the cut-off or curtailment of service'.
