The term 'Battery Cell ' as it applies to the area of photovoltaics can be defined as 'The smallest unit or section of a battery that can store electrical energy and is capable of furnishing a current to an external load. For lead-acid batteries the voltage of a cell (fully charged) is about 2.2 volts dc'.
