The term 'Arid' as it applies to the area of reclamation can be defined as ' A term describing a climate or region in which precipitation is so deficient in quantity or occurs so infrequently that intensive agricultural production is not possible without irrigation'.

The term 'Arid' as it applies to the area of the weather can be defined as ' An adjunctive applied to regions where precipitation is so deficient in quantity, or occurs at such times, that agriculture is impracticable without irrigation'.
