route capacity

'route capacity' is an military term. It means '(DOD,NATO) 2. The maximum number of metric tons which can be moved in one direction over a particular route in one hour. It is the product of the maximum traffic flow and the average payload of the vehicles using the route. See also railway line capacity'.
