attitude indicator

'attitude indicator' is an military term. It means '(DOD,NATO) An instrument which displays the attitude of the aircraft by reference to sources of information which may be contained within the instrument or be external to it. When the sources of information are self-contained, the instrument may be referred to as an artificial horizon'.
