Account Statement -- Generally any history of dealings and their outcome on charge or open-account balances in the course of a determined period. In banking, it is a summing up of paid-out checks, deposits made and balance outcomes within a specified duration. Also called a bank statement. In securities transactions, it is a summary of all business operations that gives the position of an account with a broker-dealer agency in terms of both long and short positions. The statement is brought out every quarter but is usually made available monthly at the time of active operation of accounts.
